Professional truck driver. Law enforcement officer. Writer. Relentless self‑educator.
Jerry has spent his life doing hard things — truck driver, corrections officer, writer, and relentless self‑educator. He’s always been the guy who shows up, works, carries the load, and helps others even when he was fighting battles no one could see.
As a teenager, he survived sexual abuse and kept it buried for decades. That silence shaped everything — how he walked through the world, how he protected himself, how he hid the pain behind a smile and a strong back.
He called that inner struggle The Enemy Within — the voices, the doubt, the weight he carried alone. And eventually, he found the only way to break it:
Tell the truth. One step at a time.
That choice didn’t just change his life. It became his mission.

A lifetime of poor eating habits and obesity led to diabetes and a cascade of health problems — poor circulation, foot ulcers, osteomyelitis, MRSA, bacterial infections, and ultimately the amputation of Jerry’s right leg in December 2018.
Most people would have stopped there. Jerry didn’t.
Since then, he has rebuilt his life step by step. He’s returned to the outdoors he loves — hiking, fishing, camping — and he continues to counsel, lecture, and share the strategies that helped him overcome the physical and emotional weight of his health challenges.
He also works as a high school teacher’s aide, bringing honesty, resilience, and lived experience into the lives of the students he mentors.

While working with a clinical psychologist to confront his struggles, Jerry developed a reading habit sparked by a book his therapist recommended. That single step opened the door to a deeper journey — one that helped him understand himself and eventually help others facing their own battles.
His search for meaning led him into the work of thinkers like Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Friedrich Nietzsche, Jordan Peterson, and others. Their ideas became tools, not just for healing, but for rebuilding his life with clarity, discipline, and purpose.
